It's why I wrote scripts and use them in 99% cases. (Yes, I use the same, /opt/oracle/product/10.1.0 without cluster).
It is all about details. CLUSTER (RAC) is absolutely about details (forgot to edit /etc/hosts -> have wronlgy configured listener ... for example).
On the other hand, when using scripts (== exact sequance), installation became as simple as purchasing groceries -:).
